Bottle 1577 - A ROMPing Good Time

"A ROMPing Good Time" is a diorama depicting a Bluegrass Band performing at a ROMP Festival held in Owensboro, Kentucky in June, 2026. The 5 piece band includes a man at center stage playing a mandolin and singing into a microphone stand, a woman on the fiddle, a man picking the banjo, a man on the bass fiddle, and man strumming the Guitar. They are standing on a wooden stage with planked floors and a string of working lights strung between two poles on the edges of each side of the stage. The figures are hand carved from wood and are colorfully painted in different colors. The musical instruments are carved in wood and other materials and are proportionately sized and in a great detail. Below the stage is a grassy field with cheering fans. There are 9 fans carved in wood and shown in various positions as they listen to the bluegrass music. Two are sitting in the grass directly in front of the stage. On the edge of the grass is a young boy. A long curved bench is opposite the stage on the grass and there are six fans at the bench. Two have their iPhone and iPad out filming the performance, one is raised out of her seat while cheering the performance and all have various raised hands, and expressions. They are all colorfully painted with many colors used to create a lively and artful scene. Under the stage is a carved mandolin with a label above it with "A ROMPing Good Time" printed on it. Inside the center of the bottom of the bottle is a label that has :Made in 2026, Greg N. Alvey, Owensboro, Ky. The bottle has a decorative gold colored metal cover over the glass top and a wrist band with "Saturday" and "ROMP" on it. This is the band that was used for entry to the festival. The bottle has a long wooden stopper painted black. Inside the stopper is a cavity carved into it for holding the a battery operated case that control the working lights inside the bottle. The controller is covered by a blue/teal cone-like wooden cap the hides the switch that controls the lights. The bottle rests in a blue/teal covered box that holds some more information about the ROMP Festival and a recording system that plays blue grass music. This bottle was on display during the ROMP Festival along with other various works submitted by the Owensboro Art Guild of Owensboro, Kentucky.
